Apr. 22, 2016

It’s official… ice fishing season is over. The ice on most lakes is down to about 10 inches of black (unsafe) ice. Things happened quickly this past week with some heavy rainfall and warm temperatures. The ice is broken away from the shore and there are large areas of open water on some lakes.

Now, the waiting game begins… all we need is about 10 days of warm weather and the ice will be history. The weatherman, however, is not calling for the warmest temperatures, so it could be into the first week of May that the lakes are ice-free. Open-water fishing season is getting closer!
