We are very pleased even with the late spring and all the snow that we are able to get our cabin at Dorothy ready for the upcoming season. A couple more overnight trips and we should have it wrapped up. On our last trip, we decided to take the ice auger and try and little fishing. We drilled a hole in front of the cabin and there was only a foot of snow and two feet of ice! All the snow up North this winter did a good job of insulating the ice to prevent it from getting any thicker. This will work in our favour when it comes time to melt.
We dropped a line down the hole and there was less than one foot of water… we’ve never fished in water that shallow, but left the jig down there since the hole was already drilled. To our surprise, we got a Walleye right away!! We made another hole next to it and it was nonstop action! It was the middle of the day on a bright sunny day… we were fishing in 11 inches of water and catching Walleye and Northern one after another!
We are really excited to offer up Dorothy Lake for the 2018 season. The cabin is going to be beautiful and the fishing should be pretty awesome too! It’s been years since the lake has been fished and it seems to be bubbling with nice, healthy Walleye and some good-sized Northern too!
