Opening week kicked off with a warm and sunny day on Saturday. It seemed like a good start to a great week ahead. But, the weather cab change on a dime here in Northwestern Ontario... The forecast for Sunday and Monday was calling for terrible weather including freezing rain and snow! We had a group that was scheduled to fly out on Sunday to Kamungishkamo Lake, one of our furthest outposts North. With the terrible forecast and even WORSE forecast for up North, we had them arrive a day early and we were able to get them to their lake on Saturday. Sure enough, Sunday and Monday brought on terrible storms, high winds, cold, and rainy weather. It was all we could do to keep our airplanes and docks from being damaged. The temperature dropped low enough that the rain turned to snow, but it didn’t add up to much on the ground. NOTHING compared to what the guys got at Kamungishkamo Lake. Luckily they had a warm and comfortable cabin with a wood stove and they weathered the winter storm just fine. The rest of the week was absolutely beautiful! In just a few days we got a taste of all 4 seasons.
